Best areas to invest in Phuket
There is no single best area — only areas that suit a particular plan. Here is how buyers usually narrow it down.
North-west: Cherng Talay, Bang Tao, Layan
The most developed part of the island for foreign residents, with schools, shops and beach clubs close together. Land is priced accordingly and supply near the beach is tight.
Suits: villa projects, family homes, assets where rental demand and resale liquidity matter.
Thalang and the north
Where larger parcels still exist, with the airport in the district. More agricultural and residential zoning, and a wider spread of title types.
Suits: resort and estate development, buyers with a longer horizon.
West coast: Kamala, Karon, Kata
Beach towns with hillside land and tourism-led demand. Slope and access drive build cost.
Suits: sea-view homes, boutique projects, tourism-facing use where regulations allow.
South: Rawai, Nai Harn, Chalong
Residential in character, with an established foreign community and generally more accessible pricing than the central west coast.
Suits: long-term living, smaller homes, buyers who prefer a quieter setting.
Phuket Town and the east
Everyday Phuket: schools, hospitals, offices, marinas. Less beach-driven, more service-driven.
Suits: commercial use, residential rental to residents, mixed-use plots.
